Firstly, I'd like to say New Zealand has the same problems, but seeing such a beautiful and fragile ecosystem littered and disrespected so blatantly is truly disappointing.
We have visited your islands 13 times and have always loved the wonderful hospitality and every minute of our 15 months spent here.
I realise there have been campaigns and honest efforts to improve the situation, but notice of real improvement sadly.
An initiative we put in place at our holiday house in the Marlborough Sounds, New Zealand I would respectfully like to share.
We put big bins at the beach access and encouraged any beach walking guests to pick up a few pieces of plastic, it made a huge difference and gave our guests a sense of achievement and belonging.
We walked Nikao Beach yesterday and filled a couple of rubbish bags and are prepared to walk the walk.
