Growing up, Tere Joseph’s children watched with awe as their formidable mum raised them, worked a senior management job, and helped run a church in their own home.

Teremoana Charlie Joseph turns 60 today. She is a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother, a woman of substance, and the cool and collected matriarch of our team at Cook Islands News.

Joseph entered the world on May 7, 1960, on the island of Aitutaki, the 10th child of Papa Purekua and Mama Tei Charlie.

She is the loving wife of Teokotai Joseph and mother to their seven children Fred Charlie, Teivanui, Lisa, Teokotai, Natalia, Othniel and Jethro.

Grandmother of Maki, Ingo, Tapu, Teremoana, Frederick, Charles Charlie, Telina Joseph, Josiah and Nikolai Schmidt and the doting great grandmother of baby Rangi Kamana.

Her children send their special messages of love to their Mum for her birthday and Mother’s Day.

“Happy 60th birthday to our dearest mother aka Mother Terry. You are the inspiration to our success today, you were our first teacher, guide and friend.

“You smile when we smile, you cry when we cry, you laugh when we laugh and you sleep when we sleep.

“As the word of God says in Ezekiel 19:10: ‘Thy Mother is like a vine in thy blood, planted by waters: she was fruitful and full of branches by reason of many waters.’

“We Thank the Lord Jesus for blessing you with 60 years of life today Mum.

“Thank you for the endless and unconditional love, for nurturing us with wisdom and knowledge of life, for the support and love you have given over the years, for ensuring that we were feed and clothed daily and for always being there when needed the most.

Proverbs 31:10,38 .... ‘who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. Her Children arise up and call her blessed, her husband also and he praiseth her.’

“We cannot thank you enough Mum and we love you so much. May you have an enjoyable, relaxed and wonderful day.

“With love, your husband, children and family on Rarotonga, Aitutaki, New Zealand and Australia. God bless.”

It’s not just Mama Tere’s children who want to express their thanks. Cook Islands News staff send their best wishes and thanks to Mama Tere. Have a wonderful 60th birthday today!
