Women’s support centre completion

Punanga Turuturu Itivaine (PTI) Cook Islands women’s support centre, announced the completion of their office extension on Thursday.

Located on Tupapa main road, Avarua, the office now includes a new ramp extension and increased office space. According to Sharon Kareroa, PTI’s project coordinator, the new ramp extension was built primarily for vulnerable people in the Cook Islands, making it easier for them to enter the main office.

The new extension in the office room provides extra space and a safer, more comfortable area for women and children involved in domestic violence, aiming to create a pleasant and secure atmosphere for abuse victims.

Kareroa mentioned that the funding for the new extensions was provided through the Green Climate Fund. On behalf of PTI, Kareroa acknowledged Vane Tangimetua and his team for completing the extension of PTI’s center.
