The domestic rugby league 13s competition is set for a thrilling final preliminary round with three teams vying for top spot in the premier men’s division.

Defending champions Tupapa Panthers who have played all their preliminary matches lead the points table with 12 points, closely followed by Avatiu Nikao Eels and Arorangi Bears on 10 points each.

The Eels and the Bears play their final round of matches this weekend against Titikaveka Bulldogs and Sea Eagles.

Both sides will be hoping to register big wins in order to finish on top of the table heading into the finals.

The Bears made a fairy tale run against the Eels at Raemeru Park, at their home ground winning 36-26 last Saturday.

The Bears’ win opened the top three race especially after the Panthers’ thumping 100-10 win over the winless Titikaveka Bulldogs last Friday at Teimurimotia Park.

Tomorrow Avatiu Eeels will take on Titikaveka Bulldogs at Teimurimotia Park at 4.30pm (Friday April 21).

Sea Eagles will take on the mighty Bears on Saturday at Nukupure Park in Ngatangiia at 4.30pm.

The Panthers have a bye this week-advancing into the next round.

Meanwhile, Sea Eagles are at the bottom of the table with 4 points and Bulldogs with 0.
