Gertrude Moeataua was overjoyed when she gave birth to her baby boy Teariki at 5.45am on New Year’s Day at the Rarotonga Hospital maternity department.

Moetaua said she already had two girls and she was happy to finally have a baby boy.

Baby Teariki weighed 5 pound and 8 ounces.

Penina Arnold, a young, happy and first time mum gave birth to her baby girl at 11.58pm on New Year’s Day also.

Baby Tehananaia who weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces is the first born to Penina and Jacques Boaza.
