Five men’s teams have registered for the Constitution Touch Tournament 2022 which will be played at the Avatiu field today, starting at 12 noon.

Islands being represented this year are Atiu, Mitiaro, Manihiki, Rarotonga and Aitutaki.

President of the Cook Islands Touch Association, Julz Westrupp said: “Tournament will be played in a round robin format and then top four teams will progress to a knockout play offs whilst fifth team is dropped. The first will play fourth placing whilst second will play third. Winners will play each other in finals.”

The winner will receive $500 cash and Vodafone top up vouchers and the runner up will get $350 cash and Vodafone top up vouchers. An MVP (most valuable player) award will also be presented at prize giving.

Cook Islands Touch Association thanked Vodafone and BCI for continuously supporting touch rugby “as we are excited to use this as a warm up towards CI Games”, Westrupp said.

“If you have nothing to do, come down and watch a fast paced game that entails skill and speed.”

Westrupp on behalf of CITA thanked Clive Nicholas and his team for making the Avatiu field available for this tournament.
