Over the last three weeks CIFA Complex has been the stomping grounds for seven Rarotonga schools who are participating in the Primary School Football Competition.
Today the finals will be played starting at 1pm. Current
leaders for the boys division Papaaroa College will have to be at the top of
their game as Nukutere College are closing in on their lead.
Papaaroa College will be heading straight to the playoffs
while they await on the winner between their neighbour and also fourth placed
Titikaveka College and Arorangi School.
Third placed Avarua School will need to win their remaining
two matches if they want a spot in the semifinal.
A single point separates the top three teams in the girl’s
Leading currently is Avarua School on 13 points followed by
Arorangi and Nikao School in third place.
It will be a very close battle for the title as all three
teams are showing a lot of promise and talent.
Apii Avarua girls will be playing the winner of the match
between Nukutere and Titikaveka while Arorangi will battle Papaaroa to earn
their spot in the play offs and third placed Nikao taking on Apii Te Uki Ou.
The CIFA Complex has been attracting a large number of young
students, teachers, and parents for the past three weeks. The numbers are
expected to double for the finals.
The competition was welcomed with open arms as last year
these schools missed out on the opportunity to play due to the Covid-19
It will be a great afternoon of football that you definitely
would not want to miss out on.
Girls 1pm: Field 1 - Apii Arorangi (2nd Place) vs Papaaroa
College (7th Place), Field 2 - Apii Nikao (3rd Place) vs Apii Te Uki Ou (6th
Place), Field 3 - Nukutere College (4th Place) vs Titikaveka College (5th
Place). Apii Avarua Girls proceed straight to semifinals and will play winner
of Nukutere vs Titikaveka.
Boys 1:25pm: Field 1 - Nukutere College (2nd Place) vs Apii
Te Uki Ou (7th Place), Field 2 - Apii Avarua (3rd Place) vs Apii Nikao (6th
Place), Field 3 – Titikaveka College (4th Place) vs Apii Arorangi (5th Place).
Papaaroa College boys proceed straight to semifinals and will play winner of
Titikaveka vs Arorangi.
