Cook Islands Boxing Federation president Elizabeth Ama says the money raised from the event will go towards purchasing new equipment for the boxing federation and includes purchasing a new boxing ring.
“We are a very tiny nation, but we want to make an impact where we can,” Ama said.
“Our aim is to carry on and continue that momentum and put the Cook Islands everywhere around the map to make us well known.
“It (the money) will also go towards helping clubs around the island, and push boxing where we can.
“It will also help those athletes who are selected for the Commonwealth Games.”
The Cook Islands Boxing Federation will hold an upcoming competition in the New Year, which will be part of the selection for the Commonwealth Games.
