Defending champions Tupapa Panthers had an easy start to their 2021 domestic rugby league campaign after their opponent Titikaveka Bulldogs failed to field a full team in round one competition on Saturday.

Arorangi Bears made a strong start to their 2021 Raro Cars Rugby League Competition campaign over the weekend.

The side won all their matches against Ngatangiia Sea Eagles at Nukupure Park on Saturday.

In the premier grade, the Bears thumped Sea Eagles 32-6. In the reserves grade, the visitors thrashed the Sea Eagles 50-4 while in the under-19 grade, the Bears overcame the host 26-16.

The win puts the Bears in the driving seat after round one competition. Defending champions Tupapa Panthers did not had to break any sweat for the match points after Titikaveka Bulldogs failed to field a team.

Panthers received the match point. In the other premier match played on Friday, Avatiu Eels defeated Aitutaki Sharks 48-22 at The Swamp. Both teams were locked at 14-all at the break.

The Sharks, who are based in Rarotonga this season, will be playing their home matches at Happy Valley Field.
