YWAM volleyball for family fun

Creating a healthy, family fun event was the main reason behind Saturday’s volleyball competition hosted and held at the Youth With A Mission grounds in Vaimaanga.

A total of nine mixed volleyball teams signed up for the one-day tournament which was dominated by the Pukapuka and Fiji communities who were out in force with the kids.

And it was no surprise then that the two Pukapukan teams – Young Blood and Lovely Boys –took out the competition.

But organisers of the tournament just couldn’t figure out which Pukapukan team had won as the two teams socialised together throughout the whole day in the spirit of family fun.

Either way – the Pukapukan community walked away $500 cash – $350 for first place courtesy of Wigmore’s Superstore and $250 sponsored by the Titikaveka CICC church.

Third place in the competition went o the Fiji Celtics who won $100 cash sponsored by the AOG Lighthouse group.

A spokeswoman from YWAM told Cook Islands News that they hope to organise more one-day tournaments for the community to bring together families and neighbour for a day of healthy fun.
