Wounded Bears hunting Sea Eagles

Saturday 11 February 2012 | Published in Regional

A wounded Bear is a dangerous one – and no doubt something the Ngatangiia-Matavera Sea Eagles are aware of as they head to Raemaru Park to take on the Arorangi Bears in round two of the league competition.

In the first week of the 2012 season the Sea Eagles tied 24-all against the Panthers in Pantherland and today the eastern fliers will be looking to improve on that first week result.

They face a Bears team who despite looking sharper and more consistent on the field last week against the Avatiu Eels, couldn’t capitalise on their hard work.

This will mean the slightly wounded Bears will come out with claws sharpened to prove to their loyal supporters and critics they are no teddy bears.

Games at Raemaru Park will kick off at 1pm with the under 13 grade and the main clash to get underway at 5pm.

In other games today the Panthers head to Titikaveka to take on the Bulldogs with the under 19 grade clash scheduled for 2pm and the main premier grade match kicking off at 3.30pm.

At the Swamp – the Avatiu Eels will play hosts to valley brothers the Takuvaine Warriors.

The Eels will be on a high after defeating the Bears first up but they would be foolish to underestimate the Warriors who can be giant killers when they are on form.

Games at the Swamp start at 12pm with the under 16 grade match before the big boys in the premier grade take to the field at 4pm.

Get your club colours on and get your league on today!
