Unlucky day for Cooks volleyballers

Cook Islands beach volleyball players had a better day on the courts but it was another luckless day for the mens and womens team in Noumea.

Womens duo Pori Rongokea and Alanna Smith had their nerves in check but lack of experience showed as the pair went down 21-5 and 21-6 against their Tahiti opponents on Tuesday (NC time).

The team have now registered two losses from two games and have one more game before the playoffs.

In the mens competition Brendon Heath and Apera Pori got their game off to a great start but once again saw their Fiji opponents gain the points to win the first set, 21-18.

Pori seemed to carry his minor injury sustained in his first game well but the Fijians upped the tempo to win 21-15.

The local men now face Guam in their final pool game before the playoffs.
