The Ngatangiia-Matavera Dragons have soared to the top of the rugby union points table after some strong performances by the country team.

The Dragons are only one point ahead of the Avatiu Eels, with 26 points to the Eels 25 and this weekends main match of the week between the two clubs is going to be an intense match.

The Arorangi Cowboys currently sit in third place with 21 points and the tenacious Takuvaine Reds round up the top four spots on the table with 13 points, ahead of the Tupapa Panthers and Titikaveka Bulls who are also on 13 points.

This grade features SDA players and ex-leading national players in their twilight years with both teams coached by sporting legends - Paul Allsworth in the Bulls camp and Cowboys legend Vaipo Mataora.

The first round match between these two teams was won by the Bulls 19-12 so look for another titanic battle in this grade today.

Remaining grade matches between these two clubs will be played out at the Arorangi field on Saturday.

The Dragons will rumble with the Eels at the Swamp and the Takuvaine Reds will host the Tupapa Panthers.
