Teams ponder semi finals strategies

Thursday 2 June 2011 | Published in Regional

The 8 teams in the mens division, Black Puta, The Rock, All Stars, Avatiu No Girls, Warriors, Maro Bhago, Who Cares and Virgin Ave competing in the five a side soccer competition are putting the finishing touches to preparations they hope will take them through to the semi final stage after todays knock-out competition.

Round cup winners Black Puta will no doubt amp up their performance against Who Cares to qualify for the semi finals while All Stars take on Maro Bhago.

The Warriors side is set to fight it out with Avatiu No Girls as The Rock challenges Virgin Ave. The elimination round is likely to be competitive and teams are sure to face strong challenges as the winners of the four matches will move on to the semi final stage.

The womens category made up of six teams including Avatiu No Boys, White Fairies, F.O.B, Tic Taks, Black Qwenz and Zconi Rebels will be pushing for a place in the semi final next week. Zconi Rebels are the underdogs and are likely to find the going tough against round cup winners Black Qwenz.

Round cup runners up Avatiu No Boys will face White Fairies with the view to progress past the first elimination stages and are genuine contenders for a semi-final berth. F.O.B will take on a determined Tic Tak side.

The winners of the three matches will progress through to the semi finals with the top loser of the day advancing to take the final spot in the semi final stage.

In the event a game ends in a draw at the full time whistle in both divisions a penalty shoot-out will take place to determine the winner.

All games will be played at the CIFA complex in Matavera with the womens division kicking off at 4.45pm followed by the mens category at 5.20pm.
