Tatira sails hard to 15th

Aitutaki sailor Aquila Tatira has finished fifteenth at the recent Australian National Youth Radial class in his first season in the class. After progressing to the Youth Radial Class this year, and newly out of the 4.7 Laser class Tatira handled his first two regattas in the class really well against top competitors from New Zealand and Australia.

The Laser Radial class races as one class with divisions taken out of overall placing.

This means that he was racing in a fleet of 94 yachts all of which were sailing hard for placing in their respective divisions.

Well done to Tatira and coach Taua Elisa Henry.

Both young men now travel to New Zealand to take part in the New Zealand National Laser Championships in Wellington at Worser Bay with fellow squad member Helema Williams, followed by the Sail Auckland Regatta where they will be joined by Teau McKenzie who will also race in Laser Radial Class in preparation for the Pacific Mini Games in Wallis and Futuna in 2013.
