The second swim of the Cook Islands Aquatic Federations open water series will be held this Thursday from Tikioki starting at 5.15pm.

The two distances on offer will be over a 750m and 1500m course. Last weeks first meet and the next four weeks swim events is all part of the build up to the New Zealand Ocean Swim Series planned for the end of March next year.

This race will be a 2.8km open water swim from Milford to Takapuna beach.

The Cook Islands Aquatics Federation has also decided to hold another open water series on the island beginning in late January.

This will give local swimmers about 9 weeks to build up skills and swimming techniques with the winners of the series to represent the Cooks at the New Zealand open ocean swim. CIAF will still be offering prizes for this 5 week series and winners will be determined by individual placing over the whole of the 5 weeks. Categories will be open and masters.

Following the end of the series will be the Vaka Eiva Boiler Swim and the King and Queen of the Harbour Swim and finishing the year off with a National Champship event planned for December 3rd.
