Sea Eagles fly into Sharks territory

Friday 2 March 2012 | Published in Regional

The Aitutaki Sharks will play their first home game today when they take to the Vaipae field to lock horns with the Ngatangiia-Matavera Sea Eagles.

The Sea Eagles will be the Sharks’ first visitors and if the Sharks get their usual island wide and vocal support – the Sea Eagles could be their first victims too.

The Sea Eagles have been in hot form early in the season while the Sharks have displayed just a few moments of brilliance in their two games so far this season.

The match will be the highlight on Aitutaki today and a win by the hosts will spark and weekend long party.

Other club match-ups this weekend will see the Avatiu Eels play the Bulldogs and the Arorangi Bears rumble with the Tupapa Panthers in what should be the match of the week.

Round five games kick off today with the Bulldogs under 16 and reserve grade hosting their Avatiu Eels counterparts in Titikaveka while Takuvaine Warriors under 16 and reserve grade will host their Ngatangiia Sea Eagles opponents at their happy valley field in Takuvaine.

Heading into round five – the Avatiu Eels premier grade sit at the top of the points table with 12 points from four out of four wins so far this season.

The Panthers are on 7 points after two wins from three games while the Bulldogs and Bears sit in third place on the table with 6 points each.

The full points table is below right.
