It wasnt above Kiwis and Warriors legend Ruben Wiki to serve sandwiches, wraps and drinks to rugby league fans in the VIP area last Thursday night.

The humble league star showed natural ease as he mingled and mixed with locals of all walks of life who were lucky enough to receive tickets to the elevated on top of shipping containers VIP tent at the BCI Stadium tennis courts.

What would you like to drink madam? and more sandwiches? Wiki asked guests as they settled in for a full afternoon of rugby league between the Cook Islands resident under 18 and New Zealand Cook Islands team followed the match between the Cook Islands resident senior team and a combined New Zealand, Australia and local side.

By the time Wiki had shown punters the bar and shared out the delicious food the spectators were relaxed and ready for the main game of the evening between the Kuki national squad and the PMs 13.

Guests also had the chance to mingle and mix with fellow visiting Kiwi league stars including Fuifui Moimoi, Sam McKendry, Issac Luke, Jarred Waerea-Hargraves as well as Tony Kemp and Howie Tamati.

As he swapped pleasantries and jokes with punters, Wiki was keen to drop that he was looking for land in Aitutaki where his wife Santa Wiki has family ties.

With that line we are sure to see more of the star in the islands.

In an earlier interview with a Kiwi reporter, Wiki was quoted as saying that he learned early that the greatest gift you can give to people is your time and the hulking player did exactly that on Thursday night and again on Friday afternoon when he was part of the rugby league carnival at the BCI Stadium for budding Rarotonga junior rugby league stars.
