Race called off

A busy end of year calendar has forced organisers of next weekends V12 Oe Vaka Corporate Sprint Race to call the competition off.

Cook Island Canoeing Association yesterday announced it had called off the race, which was set to be run on Saturday, November 12.

The association said the race, which had already been postponed once, was struggling to draw in the numbers during a busy month of paddling and end of year events.

A number of regular teams had not signed up for the event this year and the field was looking like it would be too small to make the race worthwhile.

The association offered its apologies to teams which had signed up to take part.

The race will be held next year as per its usual schedule and the canoeing association said it would be in contact with people well in advance of the race to draw in the boats.
