New Zealand Cook Islands rugby league squad will lock horns with their local based brothers this evening after disposing of the Australian Cook Islanders 32-22 on Friday night.

This evenings game is sure to be a thriller with the best players from the six Rarotonga rugby league teams playing for the same side instead of against each other.

The local boys will face a tough New Zealand Cook Islands team who outscored their fancier opponents from Australia.

After breaking a 12-all deadlock before the half time whistle the New Zealand team didnt look back as they dominated the Australians who featured the likes of Terry Glassie, Mark Tuati and Adam Tangata.

Australian captain Nathan Ford was a standout for the team but the game in general was played with little intensity.

But no doubt this evenings games will be played with plenty of pride as the best of local rugby league take on New Zealand based Cook Islands players.

Tonights game kicks off at 6pm after the curtain raiser match between the Cook Islands under 18 team and the New Zealand Kuki team.
