Kitesurfing clinic at Muri

Kitesurfing is the name of the game today at Muri.

A 1pm function a coaching clinic and a live exhibition aims to raise awareness of the upcoming international competition in Aitutaki.

Today local kiters Ianis Boaza and Pauro Arnold will be running a coaching clinic to teach newcomers the basics of their sport. Afterwards, they and other local kitesurfers will do a live exhibition to show spectators what kiting is all about.

There will be music, food and drinks, and those who want to can register for the Aitutaki competition. In addition to the open division, there is a separate category for novice competitors.

Cook Islands Kitesurfing Association president Teanaroa Worthington says that the programme for the competition dubbed Manureva was this week finalised.

On Friday, June 24, there will be a kick-off function at Trader Jacks, and the four-day competition will wrap up at the Aitutaki Fishing Club on July 1. CINews will advertise further details in coming weeks.
