Wednesday 28 September 2011 | Published in Regional

Local high performance umpire Punanga Kaveao from Ngatangiia will officiate at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Netball Championships next month after passing her theory exam earlier this month.

While at the secondary schools championships in Napier between October 11 and 14 Kaveao will be assessed for her New Zealand C grade badge.Netball Cook Islands umpire development coordinator Janette Browne hopes that Kaveaos umpiring award will be a catalyst for more local netters to take up the whistle.

Netball Cook Islands would like to thank Oceania Netball, Netball New Zealand, the Pacific Netball Partnership and the ongoing funding provided by the Australian government.

Special acknowledgement is also extended to Kaveaos employer South Pacific Trust.
