Dry-land training for young sailors

Eager junior sailors donned their safety jackets on Thursday afternoon even though they couldnt get out on the water due to there being no safety boats at Muri lagoon that afternoon.

The safety boat was out with another bunch of sailors who took their lessons beyond the reef for a more intense sailing session.

But the lack of on the water action didnt stop these boys turning up on time, getting dressed in their safety gear and smiling broadly.

Instead of sailing the sailors worked on their fitness and core strength with a light session of sit ups, crunches and the ever popular star jumps.

Junior sailing lessons are regular at the Rarotonga Sailing Club in Muri where beginner sailors can learn the ropes on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

For more details on the sailing lessons and programmes at the club call them today or just head around and chat to the sailors who will be at the beach for the weekly sailing meets.
