In the first challenge of the Under 16 Powerade Trophy on Wednesday, a dominant Arorangi Cowboys team slaughtered the Reds on their home soil at Raemaru Park 46-0.

Just like their senior team the Cowboys forward-pack paved the way to victory with strong performances from their locking duo William Boller and Andre Iro supported by hard-running Number 8 Tokoiva George and live-wire fullback Jac Love.

Cowboys tries were scored by Jac Love with 2, Tokoiva George with 2 tries while Andre Iro, BJ Heather, Junior Tangatapoto and Tereinga Murare scored a try each.

Best for the Reds were their halves Jason Potoru and Ari Arioka and loose forward Maui Siulepa.

At the post-match presentation rugby-legend and CITC key brands manager George George was on hand to offer inspirational words of wisdom to both teams.

The Cowboys will now face their 2nd challenge next Wednesday against the Titikaveka Bulls.

Andre Iro of the Cowboys and Jason Potoru of the Reds took out the most valuable player of the match awards.

The Titikaveka Bulls senior B team will open up round two of games today at the Titikaveka field against the Arorangi Cowboys.

Remaining games between these two clubs will be played on Saturday in Titikaveka while the Tupapa Panthers will host the Takuvaine Reds at Victoria Park tomorrow.

The CITC match of the week will be the senior A match between the Ngatangiia-Matavera Flying Dragons and the Avatiu Eels at Nukupure Park on Saturday.
