The first ever Battle of the Paddle Cook Islands stand up paddleboard race will be held today at Muri lagoon starting at 1pm.

Todays race brings to an end the walk on water week which began on Tuesday with the hotly contested celebrity dash and continued with paddling clinics through the week.

Todays free and fun race is for everyone kids, visitors and locals alike.

This is your opportunity to race alongside Australias number one stand up paddler Travis Grant who has been on the island sharing his stand up paddling skills with keen punters.

A novice and kids race will get todays event going followed by the serious race and there will be giveaways for the kids.

Keen racers can hire paddleboards from Muri beach activity operators or any human powered paddle craft will be allowed in the race.

To be part of the fun race you just have to register at Pacific Resort by midday today and get along to the beach for a fantastic day on the water.
