Poppies are worn as a mark of respect to those who have given their lives in war and locals got behind the cause yesterday.
“We’ve been doing well this morning. The public has been very supportive,” Henderson said.
This year’s Poppy Day is significant because it marks the start of commemorations for the centenary of the First World War.
Accordingly, people are being encouraged to wear their poppies until Anzac Day on April 25.—
