Tumuora Fit Family are searching for Cook Islands’ “fittest mum”, into their sixth year of holding a Fit Mum Competition in conjunction with NZ Fittest Mum Search, based in Auckland.

Tumuora owner Geoffrey Halston said: “We are so fortunate to have Jamie Gotty an ambassador of this cause, along with many Tumuora athletes qualifying into the NZ competition and competing.

Not only did they represent the Tumuora Box, but also the Cook Islands, and we acknowledge their talents, efforts and sacrifice.”

“We as a Tumuora Fit family see this as an opportunity, a celebration and acknowledgement of our Cook Islands mothers striving to better themselves in every way.”

This Fittest Mum competition is an acknowledgement that our Cook Islands mums have the most important job in the world already…being a mum! Halston said.

“And we have created this competition years ago for mum’s and nana's, (because we know you are out there, super Nans!) who compete across a range of sports and training. “

Why compete?

Halston said participants get to challenge themselves mentally and physically by setting achievable challenges.

“Everyone competing is doing the same workouts as you,” he said.

“You will realise that your body is capable of doing so much more than you think, and in the weeks prepping for the competition or during the competition itself, you will be amazed at what you will accomplish.

“Competing in sports and functional fitness isn’t just about mental and physical training, it’s about helping your children too. Leading them by example on how to prioritise their health and wellness, which is really exciting. Getting involved also showcases how good it is; for your family to see you working towards a goal.”

Halston said they are glad to get Pa Enua involvement to be an inclusive competition with Luana Abraham in Mauke, Dani Adendorff in Aitutaki, and Dr Dawn Ngatokorua in Mangaia registering.

To compete, the interested participant needs to register herself by contacting Halston (55944) or Jamie Gotty (50034).

They will then have to pick a division – there is a category for every training level.

There are four WODS – (Workout of the day) – one per week are to be completed over four weeks from November 4 to December 2.

“Complete workouts with a confident judge, and completed score sheet, understand your movement/weight requirements. Signed by judge/athlete score sheets to be submitted before Monday 1pm of each week,” Halston added.

Categories/Divisions: Open Age: RX/Elite - Intermediate (Consistent trainer) - Beginner – (Under 6months of training). MASTERS: 35+ RX - 35+ SCALED - 40+ RX - 40+ SCALED - 45+ RX - 45+ SCALED - 50+ RX - 50+ SCALED
