And the Golden Ukulele award goes to... Papa Jake

Iconic musician Jake Numanga also well known as Papa Jake, received the Golden Ukulele Award on Wednesday evening at the National Auditorium.

 

This award is designed to inspire and recognise people who enjoy, influence and have a committed interest to the ukulele.

The four other nominees, Nia Heather, Ricki Adamu, Aberahama Tauta and the late Albert Taaviri “Buffalo’ Nicholas, were also acknowledged for their contribution to the popularity of the ukulele instrument.

The finale of the first Golden Ukulele festival came to a close on Wednesday night.

The festival has proved very successful attracting players and groups from many different nations.
