In celebration of Rēo Māori Week (July 4 to 8), members of the public are invited to visit Te 'Are Karioi Nui (National Auditorium) this morning from 10am to see the various Māori products, compositions on display and special live cultural performances.

This year, the Tauranga Vānanga (Ministry of Culture Development) is focusing on Te Rēo ō te vairākau – traditional Māori medicine language theme to celebrate Rēo Māori week.

Demonstrations on the making of traditional medicine will be exhibited by traditional healers.

Cultural drumming, instruments and song will flow through Te ‘Are Karioi Nui at 11.30am with live performances from the winners of: Te Mire ʻAtu (Composers competition) – Kathy George Nubono and Andrew George, Tāteni Kōrero ‘Api’i Tuarua Tereora (Tereora College Speech competition) – Maine Koroa, Tangi Ka’ara (Drumming competition) – Avarua school and the Pupu Akateni (String band) from Tereora college.
