Covid-19 breach accused to appear in court next week

A man will be sentenced on May 25 in the Criminal Court for breaching the Covid-19 Act.
Police spokesperson Trevor Pitt said the man first appeared in the Criminal Court on May 5 and entered a guilty plea.
The court heard the man boarded a plane to Aitutaki from Rarotonga after testing positive for Covid-19 on April 23.
The alleged Covid-19 breach was reported to Te Marae Ora (TMO) on April 28, alongside another man who travelled to Aitutaki from Rarotonga on April 23, after also testing positive for Covid-19.
Pitt said the other person’s case is still pending.
