Letters: A climactic and climatic resolution for turtles

Sunday 16 June 2019 | Published in Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor, My grandfather always told me, not to trust politicians, and only believe half of what you read. I now believe this completely.

The headline of your story said “urgent call to stop tourists disturbing turtles”.

But after reading the story, we find out from marine biologist Dr Michael White that most turtles breed in Tongareva. Sorry, I didn’t know that was a big tourist destination?

What he did say was, the biggest threat to turtles was climate change, and we all know what is causing that, and we can all help remedy this.

Maybe we should blame deforestation of rain forests to make newsprint paper?
