Ellis steps into the head coach role after serving as assistant coach for the U16 men’s national team last year.
A familiar face in Cook Islands football, Ellis has taken on various roles over the years, including team manager during past tournaments. His dedication to player development and leadership within the sport makes him a natural fit to lead this young group of athletes.
Joining him on the sidelines is assistant coach Mustonen, who is stepping into one of his first official coaching roles.
Although new to the coaching stage, Mustonen’s enthusiasm, fresh perspective and commitment have already made a positive impact. This opportunity marks a big step in his journey, and the football community is excited to see his continued growth.
Both coaches have been putting in the work, guiding the team through focused sessions, and helping build the skills, mindset and team spirit needed to compete at this level.
Sixteen promising young players will be selected to make the trip this Friday, where they’ll represent the Cook Islands against teams from nine Oceania nations.
The squad has been training three times a week, showing commitment, discipline, and passion as they prepare for this major opportunity to perform on the international stage.
This tour is more than just a series of matches – it’s a platform to test their skills, gain valuable experience, and represent the Cook Islands with pride.
With strong leadership and a dedicated group of young players, the Cook Islands U15 squad is ready to take on this exciting challenge in Auckland. Cook Islands Football Association wishes George, Mustonen, team manager Jason Lindsay and the team all the best as they head off to represent our nation.
