The Rising Stars 2025 Championship rugby and netball finals took place yesterday at the Raemaru Park in Arorangi.

After a few weeks of fast-pace and intense competition amongst the schools here in Rarotonga, every team remained proud despite the results.

Tournament director Jackie Rongo was impressed with yesterday’s competition.

“Ten years of Rising Stars, this 10th year has been the most interesting year. This is the tournament that we’ve had to make some adjustments from last year, just with a new format, playing a four-week format, and also catering for more schools. It’s been amazing, this finals day we’ve seen some really high-quality games.”

All schools from different age divisions played in the finals yesterday, with schools leaving the field with awards for first to fourth place, as well as consolation prizes.

The Under 15 Nukutere College rugby and netball achieved a clean sweep, winning the U15 championships.

According to the Nukutere College captain, she was confident in placing first because the communication and effort from each of her team members proved they were prepared and ready for the challenge.

Rongo, along with the other tournament directors, was proud to see young individuals play their best in the competition since the starting week of this year's Rising Stars.

They were collating the final tally when this edition went to press last night.
