The initiative aims to boost participation in one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with a clear focus on accessibility and community development around the island.
“We’ve actually made some great progress, and we’re excited to announce that our memberships are now live,” said Beasley.
Annual membership is priced at $100 for individuals, which includes unlimited free drop-in sessions at both the National Sports Arena and Avatea Hall, as well as access to any future venues.
Members will also enjoy priority entry into upcoming tournaments and league events, making it a valuable package for both newcomers and seasoned players.
Funds from memberships will go directly toward expanding PCI’s reach, which is key to growing the sport, Beasley said.
For families, a special $250 annual membership is available, covering two adults and two children under 10.
In addition, PCI is offering concession passes for $25, which allow for three drop-in sessions.
“These are perfect for visitors to the island or beginners who just want to give pickleball a try,” said Beasley.
To attract even more interest, PCI will also host free “Pickle Tasters” every two to three weeks – casual drop-in sessions designed for first-time players to get a feel for the sport in a fun, no-pressure environment.
Registration is simple: interested individuals can contact PCI via Facebook or email pickleballcookislands@gmail.com.
Club paddles are available for those who don’t have their own, and gear is now also available for purchase at Vonnia’s and Sava Store.
PCI is currently working on discounted rates for students, with details to be announced soon.
On a personal note, Beasley shared how the sport has impacted his own well-being, playing three times a week for the past three months.
“It’s fun, so you don’t even think of it as exercise, but it’s been amazing for my fitness,” he said.
