Tupapa Panthers maintained their winning streak in the Raro Cars Cook Islands Rugby League Competition alive after another win yesterday.

In round four premier clash at Victoria Park, the Darren Piri-coached Panthers defeated Aitutaki Sharks 58-24.

Piri said the match was “pretty close” in the opening spell before his side ran away with the win in the second half.

“It’s good to win again, Aitutaki played well but we managed to get our set play right and win in the end.”

This is Sharks’ second loss in the competition after going down to Avatiu Eels in the opening round of the weekly 13s competition.

Today, the Eels will host defending champions Ngatangiia Matavera Sea Eagles at The Swamp.

The Eels are undefeated from three matches so far after beating the Sharks, Titikaveka Bulldogs (default win) and Arorangi Bears while the Sea Eagles are yet to register a win in the competition.

The Sea Eagles will be hoping to bounce back from the embarrassing 8-84 loss to the Panthers last week.
