Bim Kiriau of Avatiu celebrates as he nears the finish line in the 4x100 metre father and son relay at the annual village competition (Kumete Games) on Monday.

The daylong event was held at the National Stadium in Nikao.

The Kumete featured fun events for the under-13.

There was also a competitive series of events for the U18 and open, and any masters who wanted to compete, in the 800m, 400m, 200m, 100m, long jump, shot-put and discus.

For family fun and entertainment, the popular masters’ 50m ‘race walk’ and tug of war for U13, U18, and open-masters mix teams were held.

Arorangi finished on top after amassing 512 points followed closely by Avatiu on 489 points. Tupapa managed third spot on 233 followed by Titikaveka (32) and Ngatangiia (20).
