The unbeaten Titikaveka Pearls have been crowned the Premier Division Round Cup champions as the Netball Cook Islands domestic competition heads into the knockouts this week.

The Pearls premier side finished on top, ahead of Tupapa who finished second after the preliminary rounds. Avatiu and Arorangi finished in third and fourth places, respectively.

Avatiu finished the preliminary rounds unbeaten in the Open 2, 14 and under and 6U divisions. In the reserve and Open 2 divisions, the side finished on top ahead of Arorangi in second place.

In the Open 1 division, Arorangi claimed the top place and Ngatangiia finished second.

The Open 1 and 2 division knockouts were held yesterday afternoon at the Ngatangiia Netball Courts in Muri.

Netball Cook Islands president Ngere Puia-Fraser thanked all the clubs in Rarotonga for their participation in the local competition.

Puia-Fraser said there were 10 divisions, with two rounds of 10 weeks of games, and teams competed against each other twice.

She also congratulated the top two teams in each division after the round-robin competition.

“This week we start the Knockout Round of the Competition. Team’s placings in the Rounds, determine their placings in the Knockout,” Puia-Fraser said.

“1st and 2nd place Winners will have a ‘bye’ this week and go straight to the Semi-Finals. 3rd place will play 6th place and 4th place will play 5th place.”

The Knockout Competition started on Wednesday with the senior open teams.

The knockout matches scheduled for Saturday will be played at the National Sports Arena Indoor Stadium in Nikao.
