The Supreme combat fighting tournament brings international showdown to Rarotonga

The highly anticipated Supreme Combat Fighting Tournament will make history at the National Auditorium in Rarotonga today.

Organised by Cook Islands Combat Sports, the event brings together top fighters from across the region for an action-packed evening of kickboxing and boxing, showcasing the skill, dedication, and resilience of local talent.

The tournament features thrilling matches, including two headlining title bouts that highlight the strength and skill of Cook Islands fighters.

 The first main event-Kickboxing Title Bout will see Scholar Ngatokorua (Avatiu Boxing & Kickboxing, Cook Islands) take on Shane McCrorie (Pacific MMA Kalgoorlie, Australia).

- Scholar is a two-time International Title holder and CI Games Boxing Gold Medallist, with a recent victory at the Ultimate Rage 30 Fight Night in Auckland, New Zealand.

The second event - Boxing Title Bout will see - Michael Schuster (Rising Stars Boxing, Cook Islands) take on Koko Robinson (GoodFellas Boxing, NZ)

- Commonwealth Games representative and Cook Islands Games Super Heavyweight Gold Medallist, Michael brings power and agility to the ring.

- Koko Robinson, a skilled fighter with Cook Islands heritage, holds the prestigious Jim Little Title, adding meaning to this highly anticipated bout as it brings the title home.

The tournament will also feature additional international bouts, including Johna Papa (Avatiu Boxing & Kickboxing, Cook Islands) taking on Manaia Kaipo (Pacific MMA, Australia)

- Tamatoa Nicholas (Avatiu Boxing and Kickboxing, Cook Islands) will take on Jess Kaipo (Pacific MMA, Australia)

And Temaeva (Avatiu Boxing and Kickboxing, Cook Islands) will take on. Naisa Takitaki (GoodFellas Boxing, New Zealand).

Local youth fighters will also take the stage, contributing to a night of excitement and competition.

Cook Islands Combat Sports says they are committed to nurturing and developing local talent and fostering the growth of combat sports throughout the islands.

The organisation says this tournament aims to inspire future champions and promote local athletes by providing them with a platform for international competition.

Cook Islands Combat Sports is a small but dedicated local organisation led by Tita Teei (Avatiu Kickboxing and Boxing Club) and Steve Purea, with tournament event management support from Natasha Tupai (Waltingo Boxing Club) and media guru Asia Areora (Mango Studios).

Their mission is to foster local talent, unite communities through the discipline of combat sports, and create pathways for Cook Islands athletes to compete on the international stage.

The organisation has acknowledged international teams Pacific MMA Kalgoorlie, Australia headed by TJ Masters and GoodFellas Boxing, New Zealand headed by Evander Tia.
