The association also welcomes donations from anyone who wants to show their support for this worthy cause. The fundraiser will sell goods such as chicken rolls, sausage sizzles, baked goods, fruit juice and more.
Donations and funds from the fundraiser will go toward the rehabilitation of Kirikava Jnr, who is hospitalised in Middlemore Hospital, Auckland, New Zealand.
Kirikava Jnr is undergoing rehabilitation due to paralysis from the waist down caused by a swimming accident in January.
The funds raised will help him and his family with rehabilitation when they return to the Cook Islands.
His father Maevarangi Kirikava said: “We are an island family that want to return to our island and our life however different it is. This will come with costs.”
The parents are facing financial difficulties because they are unable to work while dedicating their time to the full-time commitment of caring for their son.
When the family returns to Rarotonga, major changes will be required in their home for Kirikava Jnr’s comfort.
The money raised will also support the family with essential medical attention, including the purchase of a motorised wheelchair.
Families and friends of Kirikava Jnr would be grateful for the donations, as these contributions would provide important support in navigating the financial challenges they anticipate upon their return.
Badminton Cook Islands is thankful for all the contributions to this Saturday’s fundraiser, especially from the badminton families and CITC.
