Letter: Mosquito threat at hospital

Dear Editor, This morning (yesterday) my wife and I journeyed up the hill to the hospital for a blood test.

My wife suspected she had dengue – had the aches, shakes etc. Her visit was great, seen quickly and efficiently done. We were also taking our cat to the vet so I stayed in the car, reclined the seat and lay in the sun listening to the radio.

However, I noticed a familiar sting and with a woefully inaccurate slap, a minute later, heard the anxiety inducing whine of a mosquito. What the ... I wound the windows up and noticed two mosquitos flying around in the car and some outside the windows. This was less than five minutes of pulling in.

If there are any mosquitos I don’t want to be bitten by, it’s hospital mosquitos, this is mosquito Russian roulette. It got pretty hot in the car, but thankfully for that cat and I, my wife wasn’t long.

So this is just a heads up to Te Marae Ora, with the recent spraying, I think you missed a bit – an important bit.
