The Cook Islands continues to endure strong winds and heavy rainfall as a trough of low pressure persists over both the Northern and Southern Cook Islands.

This follows a week of consistent downpours and gusty conditions across the nation.

According to the Cook Islands Meteorological Service (CIMS), a strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas and waters of the Southern Cooks.

Weather bulletins have highlighted the ongoing impact of the low-pressure system.

Rough to very rough seas are expected, with conditions forecasted to become moderate to rough as the day progresses. Moderate southerly swells will persist.

The outlook for the days ahead includes cloudy periods, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms. Residents are urged to exercise caution during this period and stay updated with the latest weather advisories from the Met office.
