Parliament of the Cook Islands.

In celebration of the nation’s 60 years of self-governance, the Parliament of the Cook Islands has initiated a special awards presentation focused at recognising the exceptional contributions of its parliamentarians.

This special occasion starts at 9am today at Parliament House highlighting the dedication of those who have served and shaped the nations legislation.

The Parliament awards presentation this morning will include:

The Longest serving Parliamentarian – Sir Dr. Pupuke Robati (39yrs), Longest serving Speaker – Mama Marguerite Story (13 yrs), Longest serving Prime Minister – Papa Albert Henry (13 yrs), Father of the House – Minister George Angene,  Mother of the House – MP of Manihiki Akaiti Puna, Youngest Parliamentarian – Te-Hani Brown. Double Appointments Award Presentation (Prime Minister & Speaker) - Sir Dr. Pupuke Robati (PM: 1987-89; SP: 2001-2004), Sir Geoffrey Henry (PM: 1983; 1989-1999; SP: 2010-2012). Special Awards Presentation Mother and Daughter Service Award – Minister Rose Toki-Brown and Daughter Te-Hani Brown, Brother and Brother Service Award – MP Teariki Heather & MP Robert Heather, Brother and Sister Service Award – MP Akaiti Ama & MP Tukaka Ama.

There will also be Parliamentary Services awards.

Note that the special awards partnerships are aimed at those serving in the current 18th Parliament.
