Tomorrow, Autism Cook Islands Studio Blue will be hosting an exciting event for school age students with Autism where there will be four different activities such as, connect four competition, Vex Robotics, Spike Lego and Treasure hunts.
Three volunteers will be attending the visit, Moana Adams, Joelle Tinirau and Craige Murray.
On April 24 at the Airport Aviation Fire and Rescue Visit located at Rarotonga’s international airport, where the children get to experience roles of a fire fighter and witness demonstrations performed by the members of the Aviation Fire and Rescue.
The event will include activities such as, Fire hose demonstrations, Fire truck rides, search and rescue boat ride and lastly firefighter display. The volunteers attending this visit includes Lani Vano, Craige Murray and Joelle Tinirau.
Kat Jensen, ACIs programme manager, said the Aviation Rescue crew will set up four different stations and the children will be divided in groups.
This visit involves all the autistic children and their families, ACI volunteers, staff members and their families.
According to Jensen, it is always a fun experience for everyone, especially for the children.
This visit not only promotes exciting experiences but it also helps with family connections and relationships.
“It comes under family networking which is crucial for individual and family well-being, it provides support and a sense of belonging, it helps our families navigate life complexities together,” she said. “All our kids want is to be accepted and included.”
