Accoroding to Kōrero o te 'Ōrau, although Helen Tupai is only here for a week, she has poured her heart into sharing her gift and experience—always giving glory to God and humbly acknowledging how honoured she felt to be teaching those she considers experts in their own right.
At Nikao School hall yesterday, children participated in a variety of activities led by. These activities included traditional dancing, creative projects using coconut leaves, learning about coconut trees, singing fun songs, playing touch, and a short colouring lesson.
Tupai mentioned she was invited to Rarotonga to hold music classes with the children and teach them how to sing.
She said that she was familiar with the nature of the people in the Cook Islands from her past experiences. She believes that the country’s culture is very strong in dancing, singing, and other entertaining art forms.
And she was proud to introduce another aspect of music to the juniors, which was choir singing. Her goal, as a choir director invited to teach music, is to help the children find their voices and further their understanding of singing.
