Principal Stephanie Forbes shared that while there are a few finishing touches remaining, the facility is “90 percent finished,” and the children are enjoying the upgraded space.
“Kids are happy,” Forbes told Cook Islands News. “We've still got some spaces available so if any new parents want to bring their kids to the camp, tell them we've got some vacancies.”
The early childhood centre recently relocated to a newly renovated building near the Blackrock area.
The move was prompted in a push from the government agency, Cook Islands Investment Corporation (CIIC), to be 30 metres away making way for the redevelopment of the Nikao Social Centre area into a recreational and social hub.
In an earlier report, Forbes described the relocation as something the school had no choice over.
Now, with the children settled into their new surroundings, Forbes says they are grateful for the support they received during the move.

The refurbished building features open learning spaces and new washroom facilities.
Forbes said they have four teaching staff and currently has 35 children enrolled, with capacity for up to 45.
While the new location brings many positives, Forbes acknowledged a few challenges.
“The biggest disadvantage is that we're right on the road and we don't have any trees,” she said. “But it's a work in progress and we're working hard to make it as good as we possibly can and the kids are very happy.”
CIIC assisted with the relocation, and the preschool is now looking to grow its enrolment.
CIIC previously stated its commitment to working with Blackrock to ensure the new location is fit for purpose. This includes adding fencing to enhance safety, planting trees and providing shade to create a comfortable environment for the children and to working with Blackrock ECE to ensure the new location is fit for purpose, child friendly and safe.
