Autism Cook Islands has begun rolling out its programmes for the second school term.

There are three major programmes planned for term two, programmes manager Kat Jensen said. She has organised exciting programmes for Autism Cook Islands students to help stay active and improve personal growth.

The first ACI programme is the Lego Masters/Vex Robotics. This will begin on May 9 and will continue for six weeks, every Fridays from 3pm to 4pm.

This programme will take place at the Autism Hub, also known as Studio Blue, located on the back road of Nikao.

The facilitator for this specific programme is Lani Vano, Autism Cook Islands’ outreach coordinator.

The second most exciting initiative taking place is a badminton programme. This will run for eight weeks every Monday, starting on May 12 to May 30, from 3pm to 4pm.

Badminton will be held at St Joseph’s Hall, across the road from Primefoods Supermarket. The facilitator for this programme is Hebrew Tom of Cook Islands Badminton Federation.

The other exciting programme for this school term is cooking, and it will run for 12 weeks, starting on May 1 to July 17, on every Thursdays from 1:30pm to 3pm at Studio Blue.

The facilitator for this programme will be Jayme Tangatakino, Autism Cook Islands’ café manager. The volunteers who will be joining this programme are Nukutere College teacher aides.
