Cooks resort group nabs three trophies at travel awards

A Cook Islands resort group has scooped three trophies at the World Travel Awards.

Pacific Resort Hotel Group, comprising of four independent resorts in the Cook Islands has picked up awards for it Pacific Resort Aitutaki and Little Polynesian Resort on Rarotonga.  

Pacific Resort Aitutaki has been crowned Oceania's Leading Resort 2023 for the second consecutive year.

Additionally, Pacific Resort Aitutaki has also been awarded Cook Islands' Leading Villa Resort 2023.  

Little Polynesian Resort has been named Cook Islands' Leading Boutique Hotel 2023.

This marks the resort's fourth win in this category, having previously received the award in 2022, 2021, and 2020.

Marcus Niszow, Chief executive of Pacific Resort Hotel Group said receiving not just one, but three awards across the group properties was a testament to the unwavering commitment of the group team to deliver unparalleled service, world-class hospitality, and magical moments for guests.

“We are incredibly proud of these achievements and grateful to our loyal guests and incredible team members, whose passion and dedication have made this possible.”

Speaking to Cook Islands News, he said that despite the challenges the hospitality sector has faced in recent years, especially in light of the pandemic, “I'm proud to say that Pacific Resort Hotel Group has displayed resilience, adaptability, and constant enthusiasm for delivering a best in class experience.

“Our post-Covid recovery plans are ahead of schedule, with demand stronger than ever, and the support for our product and brand has been overwhelming.

“While we appreciate these moments of recognition, we also acknowledge that the hospitality industry is ever-evolving. We are actively researching sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives, as we are deeply committed to preserving the natural beauty of the Cook Islands for future generations.

“Additionally, we are on the lookout for new opportunities to expand our portfolio within the Cook Islands, and there are plans to enhance certain aspects within our business to help further improve our guest experience. More details will be revealed in due course.”

Tourism Cook Islands chief executive Karla Eggleton said it was great news as Pacific Resort Hotel Group continued to lead and excel in their field, and were deserving of the recognition

The World Travel Awards, hailed as the "Oscars of the travel industry," recognize and celebrate excellence in the global tourism and hospitality sectors.

The awards are based on votes cast by travel professionals and consumers worldwide, providing   reflections of the industry's highest standards.
