Araura primary school 2021 prefects. 21021505.

Araura Primary School on the island of Aitutaki held the investiture of their prefects last week.

With a school roll number of 120 pupils, principal Retire Puapii says the teachers are working closely with the student leaders who will assist with supervising the kids throughout the year and importantly keeping the kids mindful of the Covid-19 awareness health campaign.

Although the Te Marae Ora awareness programme was implemented in the school last year, “it is still challenging for the younger ones,” said Puapii.

“We try to make it fun and enjoyable for the kids to keep them involved; the students leaders will be a great help for the teachers to keep on reminding the children of the steps like washing their hands and social distancing,” he added.

Head girl Devanah Teariki is looking forward to working with the teachers and the students to help keep the children focused on their studies.

Noah Challens, the head boy, called on the parents and the community for their support and to help out the school and the children however they can. The Araura Primary School prefects for 2021 are: Head Boy- Noah Challens, Deputy Head Boy - Merio Rio, Pitana Kamoe, Champion Marsters, JC Tepaki, Peter Joseph, Kitai Grummels and Joshua Maoate.
