Cook Islands Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) are investigating a break-in that was reported early yesterday morning.

The incident occurred at the Vans Sports store, where two men dressed in hoodies and long pants were caught on surveillance cameras stealing from the premises.

The surveillance footage, which has been shared on social media, showed one of the men carrying a backpack, while the other appeared to be wearing a balaclava (mask).

The suspects abandoned their motorbike at the scene. Police have since tracked the motorbike and discovered that it was reported stolen in 2019.

According to Trevor Pitt, Police media and strategic advisor, the break-in was reported by the owners at 2:32 am after they received a CCTV alert. The owners noticed two individuals in the shop before the suspects damaged the camera. Cash was reported stolen, according to Pitt.
