Police media and strategic advisor Trevor Pitt said that two dozen traffic fines were issued to drivers over the weekend, with 12 people being forbidden from driving.
Pitt said around eight of those forbidden drivers were stopped at traffic enforcement checkpoints and asked to provide a blood sample for alcohol analysis.
A 15-year-old was among the forbidden drivers, Pitt confirmed, however he did not say if the teenager was asked to provide blood sample for alcohol analysis.
According to police, a person was arrested Sunday afternoon in Tupapa for refusing a sobriety test after being seen driving a silver pickup truck carelessly.
Apart from the weekend reports, police conducted three checkpoints last Thursday from approximately 3pm to 4pm.
As a result of these checkpoints, 33 fines were issued to drivers and two were forbidden from driving.
A 30-year-old man was arrested and charged for driving while disqualified.
“These are ongoing traffic enforcement checks for road safety,” Pitt said.
Pitt also said that police had received complaints of noise disturbances and a domestic dispute over the weekend.
